Xiaomi Mi 9T Smartphone Review

Xiaomi Mi 9T Smartphone Review

The new Xiaomi Mi 9T takes the Mi 9 series in a different direction. The new thing with what surprise us, this device has a pop-up selfie camera that made it a unique model. It detaches itself from the previous models like the classical Mi Max

We are used to Xiaomi pushing out stylishly designed devices with great tech, the Xiaomi Mi 9T continues that trend. It embraces everything you need about a flagship smartphone at an affordable price point.

Design

The Xiaomi Mi 9T is available in three stunning colors, carbon black, red flame and glacier blue. It also has some eye-catchy and unique models on all of its color options. They could turn into another favor in choosing this model.

Despite the gorgeous look, some less nice things can happen. One of them is that as soon as you pick it up, fingerprints will appear on its back, and you may lose grip because of the glass, but you can easily overlook this. The Mi 9T has a curved back, and for a particular accent, a sharp-looking red power button.

The display is a 6.39” full HD AMOLED notch-free screen, protected by a gorilla glass 5 panel.

The built in-display fingerprint scanner feels quick, and it has rarely problems with reading the fingerprint, so rarely that you could barely notice them. This is probably one of the most reliable fingerprint scanners we can find built-in devices on the market.

The side volume buttons are solid and tactile, placed just above the colored power button. The device also has a headphone port on the top.

Camera

The main feature of this phone is the pop-up selfie camera. It has 20MP and it just pops up when you change the camera for selfies and it also goes back when you turn it back to normal photography mode.

Compared with other pop-ups cameras, this one is clever enough to automatically retract when detecting a drop or feel some pressure. The life of this camera is up to 300.000 cycles.

While in selfie mode you can choose between some basic camera mods, from the normal photo mode, portrait, which also allows you for the bokeh-effect blurred background, the panoramic mode so you can take more relaxed group photos, to the video and short video modes. The Mi 9T has three rear-facing cameras. The main one is a 48 MP Sony, an 8 MP telephoto lens and a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The new feature for the main camera adds a Slow motion mode that can shoot videos at 960fps.

The camera mode has some basic skin softening, and at least five beauty presets so you can choose from everything. From the shape of your face to the size of your eyes. You can even apply filters like little sparkly stars to your eyes, or apply the classic filters such as Movie or Sepia.

Whatever you choose, to apply a filter or make just a normal photo, the camera will transform it into a stunning living memory. The natural colors and sharp details will bring everything to life, especially that it performs well enough in the low light too.

Hardware and performance

Overlooking the fact that this model does not have the latest model of chipset, the Snapdragon 855 but only the Snapdragon 730, the Mi 9T is just as quick in everyday tasks as its bigger brother, the Mi 9, which is equipped with the Snapdragon 855.

It has an octa-core chip running at 2.2GHz and is integrated with the Kryo 470 CPU and 610MHz Adreno 618. It’s also paired with 6GB of memory and a 64/128 GB of storage. The device runs the latest version of MIUI (v10), based on Android 9 Pie. The interface is quick and easy to move between settings, open and close apps. This said a user who is used to the standard Android for sure will find it different.

Battery

The battery life is one of the best, thanks to its high capacity battery which was equipped, 4,000mAh. It has an 18W fast charging which is another good feature in comparison with other devices.

Conclusions

The Mi 9T is the cheapest model from the Mi 9 series. It is also the only one that includes a full-screen display. The headphone jack and the 4,000mAh battery are also particularities for this model. The Mi 9T certainly has its merits.

Compared to its competitors, which seem to focus on one area or another, the Mi 9T shines in almost all areas. We can compare the Mi 9T with Realme X which beat everyone with the design, with the Galaxy A50 which wins thanks to the display or with the Pixel 3a which one bests everyone with the camera. But the “Jack of all trades” is what makes the Mi 9T even better is the price.

Compared with these smartphones, the Mi 9T sits well in the mid-range pricing. Considering its features, cameras and its packs in a lot of high-quality technology for the money, none of its competitors will achieve this level of sophistication yet simplicity and uniqueness, all in one.

So, according to the design, the pleasingly powerful specs, and the camera and the affordable price, this phone becomes if not just a very tempting proposal then a must in regarding a new phone.

The Xiaomi Mi 9T has a great battery life, a pop-up selfie camera, and a great display and solid performance. Overall, 9T offers more than most mid-range smartphones. With this being said, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good looking, reasonably priced smartphone.

I know I made you curious about the price, well it’s time to talk about this too. You can get it now at an offer from Geekbuying or Gearbest. Being a mid-range price smartphone buying one will not destroy your holiday plans if there remains something from them; at least you will take amazing photos while staying safe to keep in touch with everyone.
