Top Chinese phones 2018

The smartphone market has expanded in recent years quite a lot, and you can see that every season there are so many phones being launched. They’re so many phones out there that you don’t know which one to choose. To counter that problem, we bring you a list of the Top Chinese phones 2018 which will help you in buying a new smartphone.

Vivo NEX S

  • 6.6-inch 1080p OLED display, no notch
  • 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel primary cameras
  • Pop-up 8-megapixel selfie camera
  • In-display fingerprint sensor
  • Snapdragon 845 processor
  • 256GB storage, 8GB RAM
  • Headphone jack

Vivo announced their Nex series, the realization of the super cool Apex concept phone which you could have seen at the Mobile World Congress this year. While the Nex S flagship doesn’t have the Apex “half-screen” fingerprint sensor, it does, however, carry over the most eye-catching and the most interesting feature: a pop-up selfie camera that eliminates the need for a notch. This means you will get an even bigger screen without having to give up on your beloved selfie camera.

Talking about the screen, the Nex S has a huge, uninterrupted 6.6-inch screen with the smallest of bezels at the bottom. There’s also an in-display fingerprint sensor — you put your finger on the display and it unlocks — and a kaleidoscopic glass back panel.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S

  • 6-inch 1080p LCD, no notch
  • 12-megapixel dual cameras
  • 5-megapixel selfie camera below screen
  • Snapdragon 845 processor
  • 256GB of storage, 8GB of RAM
  • Rear-mounted fingerprint sensor

Xiaomi’s high-end phones are the latest iteration of the lines that kicked off the whole bezel shaving trend we’ve been living for the past year. The Mi Mix 2 was a more refined, elegant and usable version of the original and this year’s Mi Mix 2S is the best Mi Mix yet to be launched: it brings us wireless charging, a dual-camera system, and Qualcomm’s fastest processor, the Snapdragon 845. We believe this is quite impressive and we’ve seen this phone selling very much everywhere.

It also doesn’t come with a notch at the top of the display, however, that’s not necessarily a good thing. The weird part of this phone is that the selfie camera has been relegated to the “chin” bezel below the screen, which means that you have to hold the phone upside down to use it for video calls and so forth. It is quite weird and it might be an inconvenience for some people since it is a bit uncomfortable if you wanna use some apps while you’re video calling someone. We still don’t understand why they’ve put the selfie camera like that, but they sure had a reason!

Meizu 15

  • 5.5-inch 1080p OLED display
  • 12-megapixel and 20-megapixel primary cameras
  • 20-megapixel selfie camera
  • Snapdragon 660 processor
  • 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage
  • Rear-mounted fingerprint sensor
  • Headphone jack

Meizu was one of the first Chinese phone manufacturers to make a name for itself among the Western gadget lovers, but this phone’s market share has been twisted significantly since the rise of giants like Huawei and Xiaomi. It’s a shame because the new Meizu 15 is one of the most beautiful phone designs of the year.

The Meizu 15 doesn’t attempt to make itself a place in the trends of 2018. It’s just a very large 5.5 inch 16:9 1080p screen and very little else. Imagine an iPhone 8 Plus with midrange specifications, without the big top and bottom bezels, and you’re given almost the same thing. But that doesn’t illustrate the way the phone’s screen goes right up to the left and right borders, with gently curved glass spilling over the edges, nor how Meizu managed to fit a very small and functional fingerprint sensor below the screen, even matching it with a proper system to simulate a home button press.

It might not look like much in photos, nor does it look very expensive, it also doesn’t look like much when you flip it, either, but we thought the Meizu 15 to be more interesting to hold and use than maybe any other phone this year, and that’s quite something.

Huawei P20 Pro

  • 6.1-inch 1080p OLED display with notch
  • Hisilicon Kirin 970 processor
  • 128GB of storage, 6GB of RAM
  • Triple camera system with 40-megapixel primary sensor, 20-megapixel monochrome sensor, and 8-megapixel 3x telephoto lens
  • 24-megapixel selfie camera
  • Front-mounted fingerprint sensor

The P20 Pro is one of the best smartphones of 2018, period, with that we’ve said everything. With a unique and shimmering design, a class-leading triple-camera system, and an excellent battery life, there’s not much to talk about this phone beyond the fact that its manufacturer has realized a phone that beats every top brand smartphone. Thanks to this phone, the Huawei sales have risen and beat even Apple.

With that being said, we still find Huawei’s EMUI software to be very optimized than most of the other software, however, it still has some small bugs which can be fixed with a few upgrades. Most of these phones have software that’s taken heavy inspiration from iOS, but while Oppo and Xiaomi’s software are mostly coherent in their own right, EMUI is all over the place.

Xiaomi Mi 8

  • 6.2-inch 1080p OLED with notch
  • 12-megapixel dual cameras with telephoto
  • 20-megapixel selfie camera
  • 6GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage
  • Transparent “Explorer Edition” with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage
  • Rear-mounted fingerprint sensor

Xiaomi’s other brilliant flagship is somewhat more conventional. The Mi 8, is the company’s first phone with a display notch, which doesn’t surprise us at all, and as such, it doesn’t stand out in terms of design.

The phone, however, is very popular among users who like it because it works great, has a prolonged battery life and it’s not as expensive as other brands. You can get this phone for pretty much half of the price of other popular brands and you will realize that the Mi 8 has features these popular brands might not have.

Featuring a smaller Snapdragon 770 powered version called the Mi 8 SE, this phone starts from $280 and could be the real bargain in the lineup. Xiaomi will continue to offer solid, legitimately modern devices at prices that are hard for anyone else to match.

With that being said, we believe these are the best phones of this year and hopefully, we haven’t missed one out. Let us know what you think in the comments section below and share your experience with one of these phones.
