OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z Review

OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z Review

OnePlus in almost every year along with its flagship phones launches its own branded earphones, the Bullets Wireless series. Today, I will review the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z

OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z is the third one in a row, its predecessor came out in 2019, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2, and the first one in 2018 named the OnePlus Bullets Wireless.

Being slightly cheaper than the previous model we can ask of how better is this model than the OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2. Whether it stands its ground or there is a slight drawback from the Wireless 2.

OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z has some impressive features in the pocket, like excellent battery life, quick charge, sweat-proof construction, fast switching between paired devices, and other goodies.

Let’s find out in detail why this pair of wireless earphones are so special, and why they are a good value for the price we get them.

OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z Design and Overall Look

OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z looks very similar to the previous Wireless 2, except that this one is made out of plastic.

It seems to cut the price, they rather used good quality plastic which does not detract too much from its value.

At first touch, the earpieces look nice; they fit perfectly in my ear. The silicon tips are perfectly canceling the outside noise. If you have small or larger ear canals, you can choose from the appropriately sized ear tips that come additionally with the earphones.

In my opinion, it is worth experimenting and trying out all sizes, for better noise cancellation, and overall comfort, whether you are doing sports or just making a phone call.

These earphones are neckband style devices. Depending on whether you like it, you have the pros and cons of it. For example, the biggest advantage is that you don’t lose as easily as those separate earbuds.

Going down, I can notice that the rubber band around my neck is light and comfortable. At the end of the rubber, there are two plastic sticks.

On the left stick, you have the power button and an LED light that shows when this device is paired.

OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z Features

Double tapping on the power button you can switch between two paired devices.

This feature comes in really handy when you want to quickly change between your laptop and phone when a call comes in. It works instantaneously and eases up my life a lot.

Quick pair support is available only for OnePlus phones, but the regular pairing works quite fine with other phones as well.

Going up from the left stick where the USB C charging port is, you find an in-line remote set of buttons. Two-volume rockers and an action button.

These buttons are not so tangible but work pretty well.

The action button does the regular play pose, answering and hanging up phone calls, activating Google Assistant, skipping between tracks, and other functions.

An ingenious feature, the magnetic control comes in really helpful. When you clasp together the earbuds, the music stops playing, and when you tear them apart, the music keeps playing where it left.

Additionally, these earphones have an IP55 certificate, being sweat, and waterproof device. So you don’t have to worry about hard sports and rainy days.

OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z Sound Quality

As we look at the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z, and the Wireless 2 they are almost similar. We expect a similar soundstage and the same drivers, but that’s not the case.

The Bullets Wireless Z only has a 9.2 mm driver, compared to the 10 mm found in the Wireless 2.

The overall sound is a kind of plane, nothing is outstanding there. The sound lacks the details we like about the listening experience.

The highs are toned down, there are no ticks, as well as the bass lacks that punch we like at rhythmic music.

Overall, the bass is present, but it has a warm plain signature rather than the punchy vibes.

Sadly, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z also lacks the Hi-Fi codecs we met in the Bullets Wireless 2. No aptX codec just AAC, which is fine too if you are listening to streaming media.

Generally speaking this gadget is more of a customer-friendly, general use earphone, that has a warm and comfortable, and also good sounding. And the accent is on comfortable. You will not notice wearing them, even after long hours.

OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z Microphone and Battery

It has a clear sounding microphone. The voice calls are crisp and sharp, although it’s a bit quiet, but not enough to cause any disturbance.

This earphone has a special feature, a low latency mode, paired with an OnePlus phone, this Fnatic mode is perfect for gaming. Bluetooth 5.0 connection is powerful enough with a range of almost 10 meters.

One highlight of this bullet earphone is battery life. OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z is capable of 20 hours of battery time. Along with the warp charger, you can get a full charge in around 25 minutes. With 10 minutes of charging time, you can get 10 hours of battery life, which is crazy.

Verdict

OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z overall is a great wireless earphone. With many features, brilliant battery life, it stands out from the crowd.

Under$50 you won’t get any better wireless earphones. On the market, many brands compete with each other, but I think OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z has the best value for its price.

I can recommend it. It has a solid structure, fast charging with outstanding battery life, and features like switching between devices are very useful.

It has a wonderful quality, warm sounding, light and comfortable enough to wear it longer in any conditions, even in rain. The IP55 certificate is a plus with these earphones.

Overall, if I have piqued your interest and you want to buy a really valuable earphone then you can buy it from the OnePlus store, or any other online store around the web.
