Oukitel C18 Pro Smartphone Review

Oukitel C18 Pro Smartphone Review

Oukitel C18 Pro, is now available, the newcomer from Oukitel, giving to users a low-cost option for those who has a keen interest in a solid camera experience.

The primary features of this phone are the four camera sensors at the back, the display of 6.55-inch HD with a punch-hole notch overhead.

It is extremely hard to find a budget model like this Oukitel C18 Pro. We see that it is a better model than its predecessors, like C17 Pro or K13 Pro

Regarding its performance, its design and camera, we can say that this phone is way more than we expected.

Design

The symmetrical design of the four cameras and the fingerprint sensor is impressive as first seen in 2020.

The industrial design including the sandwich structure and the 2.5D glass covering has a territory in the higher segment products.

This device has two colors, black and purple.

The back and the front have an anti-abrasive cover glass.

It feels silky and smooth, like a rigid surface out of our world.

With a 20:9 screen ratio and just 8.3mm thin, not wide, not narrow, it suits perfectly to ergonomics.

It has a 6.55-inch OGS display that fills the front, leaving no unpleasant chin. This low price model features the popular hole-punch selfie camera like most 2020 flagships. The area of the camera hole has a strong contour.

Its design is unique, and it looks more premium than other devices with similar price tags.

The resolution of the display is 1600 x 720 pixels, maybe a little disappointing for a 2020 device.

But on the other hand, the performance and autonomy from using an IPS panel are increasing.

Considering the price and the other features, to go with a 720p display is just the right option to balance an excellent performance and long battery life.

Software and performance

The hardware compromises were common because of cost reduction.

This device has an octa-core Mediatek Helio P25, along with a Mali-T880 GPU processor with 4GB RAM and 64Gb ROM internal storage, that we can expand up to 128GB, with a microSD card. It is not an attractive performance choice, but users can have complete functions of Android 9 without apparent lags.

This smartphone is running on Android 9, but will get an update to the Android 10 version soon. Which is a significant advantage over most budget phones.

The Oukitel C18 Pro has space for two card slots; so, the second one can be a placeholder for an extended microSD or a SIM card.

The smartphone has a built-in battery with a capacity that reaches 4000mAh, thanks to the energy efficiency of Android Q guarantees. In daily use, it can last up to an 8-hour active display time.

Among the negative aspects, we can not neglect the absence of NFC, the incomplete translation of the software, and some minor bugs.

Through the features, it also has a rear placed fingerprint scanner which along with the face ID offers very good security for the phone. Although, the phone supports plenty of language options to cover most consumers.

Camera

As professional photographers need specific cameras for different scenes and purposes, so is the C18 Pro equipped with quad cameras; with all the specifications. The hardware is powerful enough to get more particular photos than other cameras with the same specifications from competitors.

As we already learned, the Oukitel C18 Pro has a four-camera array on the rear, a combination which includes modules of 16MP – the primary camera that leads the way; followed by an 8MP for wide-angle, 5MP for macro, and 2MP depth sensor for the bokeh effect. Compared to the useless multi-camera modules on similar price range phones or even more expensive ones, the secondary cameras of the C18 Pro can produce wonderful images.

The colors on the primary camera might be over-saturated depending on what mode we use, the images present a good clarity, not just for the primary camera but also for the secondary cameras too.

We have to mention that its macro camera is much better than some other mid-range macro performances.

The manufacturer is really pushing the camera experience for this phone, particularly around the macro lens. We can also note the fact that the manufacturer kicked off a full campaign where it plans to differentiate its “true” camera from the “fake” macro. According to this, many low-cost phones are using algorithms and AI to create a macro shot.

The modules of the camera seem to provide extensive photographic capabilities, but looking over the quality they don’t allow you to create impressive photos. The macro module looks decent even against the background of more expensive opponents.

The manufacturer completes the cameras with an 8MP Al front camera; that even day or night, you will capture your wonder no matter the situation.

Color saturation and contrast are handled by the Al algorithm.

Conclusions

Oukitel has overcome our expectations from an actual budget phone.

This phone is not an applause for its performance and display but some features like the design, the cameras, and battery, just made it outstanding from other budget devices.

Although the internal memory and its possibility to expand is also a plus point for this phone.

The design made this phone look more pricey than it is, giving in the same time more than we could expect for this price.

Looking at the essential features of the phone, we can conclude that it is a superb phone, and we can set aside the negative parts because it is a budget phone and other features take their place.

So the technology and our desires and curiosities are ignoring the current situation, but buying this phone will not affect your budget significantly. You can order it from Aliexpress or Gearbest in both colors and can find as well some nice accessories for your new phone.
